What the AZ-900 exam looks like
You get 45 minutes and need 700 or more to pass. The exam is proctored and you book it through Pearson VUE. Microsoft pitches it at people who already work in IT, in infrastructure, databases or software development for example, and want to show they know the basics of cloud and Azure.
On July 20, 2026, Microsoft updated the skills measured, with minor changes in compute and networking, management tools and monitoring. There are three areas:

Expect questions on the Azure resource hierarchy. How I chose
I used the same methodology as every other guide. For this exam I looked at whether the course was updated after the July 20, 2026 skills change, whether it includes practice tests, and how many reviews it has. For now I only compare courses on Udemy. I read every fact on the course page on September 28, 2026.
Scott Duffy also sells a separate set of 6 AZ-900 practice tests with 300 questions and more than 34,000 reviews. I left it out of the table because its last update was in October 2025, before the skills change. The other practice-test sets I found had very few reviews.
